Scottie Scheffler Secures Fifth Win of 2025 with Dramatic Rally at BMW Championship

OWINGS MILLS, Maryland — Scottie Scheffler finished strong with a 3-under-par 67 on Sunday to capture the BMW Championship at Caves Valley Golf Club, overcoming a four-shot deficit to claim his fifth victory of the 2025 PGA TOUR season and his 18th career title.

Starting the final round four strokes behind leader Robert MacIntyre, Scheffler quickly erased the gap within the first five holes. On the challenging 17th hole, a 174-yard par-3 with a difficult green sloping toward water, Scheffler executed a stunning 82-foot chip shot from the rough that rolled gently into the cup for a crucial birdie, extending his lead to two strokes. He then sealed the win by making par on the final hole, finishing at 15-under-par 265, two strokes ahead of the Scottish runner-up who closed at 13-under 267.

This victory makes Scheffler the first player since Tiger Woods in 2006-2007 to notch five or more PGA TOUR wins in consecutive seasons. He also becomes only the fourth golfer in modern PGA TOUR history to record at least 12 wins, including three major championships, in a two-season span, joining legends Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods.

Despite a strong start by MacIntyre, who held a four-shot lead going into Sunday, his momentum waned as Scheffler surged. MacIntyre managed only his first birdie on the 16th hole of the final round and struggled to maintain pace against Scheffler’s comeback. Meanwhile, Scheffler played solid golf but faced challenges on the back nine with missed birdie opportunities and a couple of bogeys, yet his overall performance was enough to secure the title.

Scheffler’s win adds momentum as he continues a dominant stretch in professional golf, with 18 victories in just over three years since his first PGA TOUR title at Phoenix. Speaking after the win, Scheffler described the day as “a grind,” attributing his success to focus and intensity shot by shot.

This win further solidifies Scheffler’s status as the world’s top golfer and sets high expectations as the PGA TOUR moves toward the season’s concluding events.

The BMW Championship victory not only adds to Scheffler’s impressive resume but also boosts his position in the FedExCup standings, keeping him a favorite for the season-ending Tour Championship.

Highlights of the final round showcased Scheffler’s resilience and clutch play under pressure, especially evidenced by his spectacular chip-in birdie on the 17th hole that left fans and commentators in awe.
