Rudy Giuliani, the 81-year-old former New York City mayor and former attorney for President Donald Trump, is recovering after being seriously injured in a car accident in New Hampshire on Saturday night. The crash occurred near Manchester shortly before 10 p.m. when the Ford Bronco Giuliani was riding in, driven by his spokesperson Theodore Goodman, was struck from behind by a Honda RV driven by a 19-year-old woman named Lauren Kemp.
The impact forced both vehicles into the highway median, causing significant damage. Emergency responders at the scene rendered immediate aid. Giuliani, Goodman, and Kemp were all transported to local hospitals for treatment. According to Giuliani’s head of security, Michael Ragusa, Giuliani sustained a fractured vertebra but is expected to recover.
Before the crash, Giuliani and Goodman had stopped after being flagged down by a woman who was a victim of domestic violence. Giuliani reportedly rendered assistance and stayed on scene to ensure the woman’s safety until police arrived. Shortly afterward, while continuing their journey, Giuliani’s vehicle was hit from behind at high speed.
Michael Ragusa posted on social media that the details surrounding the accident remain somewhat unclear but confirmed this sequence of events. New Hampshire police verified the report of the domestic violence incident and the timing of the collision but did not comment on Giuliani’s involvement in assisting the victim.
Giuliani, widely known as “America’s Mayor” for his leadership following the September 11, 2001 attacks, has had a controversial post-mayoral career. He ran unsuccessfully for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, later served as Donald Trump’s personal attorney, and was disbarred in New York and Washington, D.C., following his involvement in efforts to challenge the 2020 election results. Earlier this year, he settled a $148 million defamation judgment.
Despite the serious nature of his injuries, Giuliani’s security team conveyed optimism about his recovery. The incident in New Hampshire marks the latest chapter in the former mayor’s turbulent public life.
